Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah Christian Scott, trumpet, Reverse Flugel, Sirenette Lawrence Fields, piano and keyboard Max Moran (b) Mike Mitchell, percussion Elena Pinderhughes, flute Weedie Braimah, drums 27 year old Christian Scott embodies the new generation of New Orleans trumpeters, a seminal dynasty that started with the legendary King Oliver and Louis Armstrong and continued with Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard and Nicholas Payton. The trumpeter trained at Berklee College of Music in Boston and his warm tone and unusual round notes are instantly recognisable. After working with McCoy Tyner, Prince, Marcus Miller, Eddie Palmieri, Mos Def, Thom Yorke and Solange Knowles, the musician from Crescent City is now the pin-up boy for jazz fusion. His grandfather is the iconic Big Chief Donald Harrison Sr. who managed four tribes of Black Indians (Christian actually started out in one in 1989). The Louisiana trumpeter's sound straddles hip hop, soul and jazz and he appeared a decade ago with the album Rewind That (2006). He was hit by the full force of Hurricane Katrina and devoted his next record (Anthem, 2007) to portraying the human and cultural disaster. After Live at Newport, he recorded Yesterday You Said Tomorrow in 2010 inspired by the 60s groovy jazz played by artists on the Blue Note record label. Christian Scott is one of a long line of Louisiana artists who have been reinventing jazz music for over a century. Recorded on 2017, June 30th at the Vienne Jazz Festival TV Director, Fabien Raymond

Yaron Herman trio Yaron Herman, Piano, KIeyboard Bastien Burger, Bass, Vocal, Keyboard Ziv Ravitz, drums, electronics Everyday, his duo with Ziv Ravitz in 2015 and first album for Blue Note, the first disc with songs, felt like a comeback for Yaron Herman. The French-Israeli's latest album, 'Y', is a real melting pot of all his influences. His inspirations are explored with pure elegance be they jazz, post-rock or electro by Sufjan Stevens, Steve Reich or Keith Jarrett. Better still, instead of covering mainstream songs like he used to (from Britney Spears to Radiohead), he's made his own songs with or without vocals, words or choruses. Perhaps we have the Arles Photography Festival (2015) to thank for that along with his encounter with Matthieu Chedid (singer on Saisons Contradictoires), friendship with the bassist from The Dø Bastien Burger (co-producer on the album) and his discovery of the young French electro-pop producer Dream Koala (guest on Solaire). Yaron Herman is definitely back. Recorded on 2017, July 4th at the Jazz Festival in Vienne TV Director, Fabien Raymond

We Love Ella The Amazing Keystone Big Band Bastien Ballaz, Aloïs Benoit, Loïc Bacheveillier, Sylvain Thomas (trombones) Jon Boutellier, Pierre Desassis, Kenny Jeanney, Eric Prost, Ghyslain Regard (saxophones) David Enhco, Thierry Sénéau, Vincent Labarre, Félicien Bouchot (trumpets) Fred Nardin (piano), François Thibaut (Guitar) Patrick Maradan (Double Bass) Romain Sarron (Drums) Guests Célia Kaméni (vocal) China Moses (vocal) Sarah McKenzie (vocal, piano) The Amazing Keystone Big Band loves Ella and pays more than a simple vibrant homage to she who loved big bands so much (she sang with those of Chick Weeb, Duke Ellington and Count Basie)and identified with the same vein as the one of the same name that the PBS Radio had ???? with Jon Faddis, James Moody, Lizz Wright, Patti Austin. The guest singer, Célia Kaméni, does not attempt either to compete with or to imitate, that would be impossible anyway, the first lady of song gets to grips with her world in order to sing it better. And it works perfectly, and it has to be said that the orchestra is absolutely irreproachable with its waves of intensity, its stresses, an expressive clarity which gives it a very lare range of expression. It's all there, the phrasing, the accents, the rhythm, the groove, the drive this swing, this je ne sais quoi between individual liberty and collective happiness, put simply...Jazz! Recorded on March 23, 2019 at the Salle Pleyel TV Director,Laurent Hasse

Arthur Possing Quartet Pierre Cocq-Amann, saxophones Arthur Possing, piano, compositions Sebastian 'Schlapbe' Flach, double bass Pit Huberty, drums Arthur Possing is a young Luxembourgish pianist, born in 1996 into a family in which music has always played a significant role. He started classical percussion at the age of 6 and classical piano at the age of 10, later in the class of well-known pianist Jean Muller. In 2009, he began studying jazz piano with Marc Mangen and vibraphone in 2011 with Guy Cabay. In 2016, he began further studies in jazz piano at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles with Eric Legnini. The Arthur Possing Quartet was originally formed in 2013. Its members met in high school and soon started playing together regularly. Since 2017, the musicians are originally from Germany, France and Luxembourg and have studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood near Paris and the Musikhochschule Mannheim. Their repertoire consists both of own compositions and tunes of appreciated jazzmen. In 2017, the quartet released their first album 'Four Years', which was released in March'18 on the Belgian label Hypnote Records. Guillaume Perret Guillaume Perret, saxophone, machines The saxophonist from Annecy (born in 1980) racked up the pressure on the contemporary jazz scene (from 2009) with his group The Electric Epic. Three years later and John Zorn himself described it as 'a whirlwind of emotion' and released the extravert, panoramic and electric fusion on his Tzadik record label. It was an explosion of sound with funky beats and quirky harmonies blending metal, electro, Africa, psychedelia and the hot wind of free style. After two incredible albums with Electric Epic, Guillaume Perret is going it alone with his new album Free (2016). Perret's sense of solitude is comparable to Deleuze's opening to Mille Plateaux: 'Since there were many of all of us, there were already too many people.' You can spot the almost symphonic ramped-up saxophone and the deafening rhythmic loops that make Guillaume Perret multiple, all-encompassing and so spectacular. Recorded on 2017, July 13th at the Jazz Festival in Vienne TV Director, Nicolas Micha

Monty Alexander, piano Born in Jamaca on D-Day- a sign of destiny ? - Monty Alexander rapidly left his native country for the United States. In New York, he regularly accompanied Frank Sinatra and performed in the jazz clubs of Manhattan (including the famous Minton's which was the birthplace of bebop) where Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Miles Davies did not miss a chance of hearing him play. After more than fifty years of a career crowned with collaborations with Tony Bennett, Nathalie Cole, Clint Eastwood, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Quincy Jones, Ernest Ranglin and Barbara Hendricks the pianist travelled around the globe thrilling audiences with his vibrant personality, which communicated an original musical message, in which the heady beat of reggae is mixed with the contagious rocking of swing. Recorded on November 23, 2018 at the Seine Musicale TV director, Julien Faustino

Ambrose Akinmusire Quartet Ambrose Akinmusire (trumpet) Sam Harris (piano), Harish Raghavan (bass guitar), Justin Brown (drums) This young trumpet player (aged 36), an American of Nigerian heritage, has an impeccable background (from Berkeley High School to the first prize in the Thelonious Monk competition in 2007), but is much more than an impressive academic CV. He aims to create a personal world 'dedicated to beauty'. Akinmusire was born and raised in Oakland, California and first attracted the attention of the saxophonist Steve Coleman, who asked him to join Five Elements. Ambrose Akinmusire was then 19. He released his first album, 'Prelude (To Cora)', and moved to New York, where he played with Vijay Iyer, Aaron Parks, Esperanza Spalding and Jason Moran. In 2010, he worked with Terri Lyne Carrington, Ron Carter, Wallace Roney, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. Everyone could see that this creative and surprising trumpet player would be a name to watch in contemporary jazz. This view was shared by the Blue Note label, who signed him up. The albums 'When the Heart Emerges Glistening' and 'The Imagined Savior is Far Easier to Paint' were released in 2011 and 2014. The artist draws his landscapes, visions, ideas and states of mind - pure grace! Akinmusire explores the two sides of his temperament: introspection and lyrical ebullience. In summer 2017, he released 'A Rift in Decorum - Live at the Village Vanguard', a double CD recorded at the legendary club in New York, featuring 16 new compositions in two wide-ranging sets, in defiance of gravity. Recorded on July 9, at the Festival Jazz à Vienne TV Director, Fabien Raymon
