Roy Hargrove quintet Roy Hargrove, Bugle, Trumpet Justin Robinson, Flute, Saxophone Ameen Saleem, Bass Quincy Phillips, drums Tadataka Unno, Piano The trumpeter and singer Roy Hargrove has asserted himself as one of the most important jazz musicians for thirty years. Always there where you are least expecting him to be, Roy Hargrove refines his music by invention and reinvention. He is immensely seductive and gives mammoth concerts and happiness to all generations...His flamboyant post-bop quintet tinted with groove is the very quintessence of the original jazz movement. Recorded on October 28th at the Festival Jazz en Tête TV Director, Guillaume Dero

Avishai Cohen quartet @ D'Jazz Nevers Avishai Cohen, trumpet Yonathan Avisahi, piano Yoni Zelnik, bass Jonathan Black, drums Dream Like a child, Into the Silence Quiescence Behind the broken glass Bill Evans has two incarnations, as a pianist and a saxophonist. So has Avishai Cohen, a bass player and, tonight, a trumpeter. His musical friendships are long standing. For a decade now, he has been playing with pianist Yonathan Avishai, and hooked up with Nasheet Waits as soon as he arrived in New York from Israel in the 90's. His beard may be on the wild side, but his sound on the trumpet is one of the purest you can hear today. His first album for ECM, 'Into the Silence', was composed six months after Cohen's father died. 'Into the Silence' is about absence, a pregnant silence, deeply intimate, which does not preclude a sense of revolt, rich with vital energy. On four consecutive years, Cohen was voted 'Rising Star' in the 'trumpeter' category by DownBeat, the reference American jazz magazine. An absolute must. Recorded on November 11th at the festival D'Jazz Nevers (Nevers, France) - (Maison de la Culture, Philippe Genty hall) TV Director, Samuel Thiebaut

Guillaume Perret Guillaume Perret, saxophone, machines The saxophonist from Annecy (born in 1980) racked up the pressure on the contemporary jazz scene (from 2009) with his group The Electric Epic. Three years later and John Zorn himself described it as 'a whirlwind of emotion' and released the extravert, panoramic and electric fusion on his Tzadik record label. It was an explosion of sound with funky beats and quirky harmonies blending metal, electro, Africa, psychedelia and the hot wind of free style. After two incredible albums with Electric Epic, Guillaume Perret is going it alone with his new album Free (2016). Perret's sense of solitude is comparable to Deleuze's opening to Mille Plateaux: 'Since there were many of all of us, there were already too many people.' You can spot the almost symphonic ramped-up saxophone and the deafening rhythmic loops that make Guillaume Perret multiple, all-encompassing and so spectacular. Recorded on 2017, July 13th at the Jazz Festival in Vienne TV Director, Nicolas Micha

Yaron Herman trio Yaron Herman, Piano, KIeyboard Bastien Burger, Bass, Vocal, Keyboard Ziv Ravitz, drums, electronics Everyday, his duo with Ziv Ravitz in 2015 and first album for Blue Note, the first disc with songs, felt like a comeback for Yaron Herman. The French-Israeli's latest album, 'Y', is a real melting pot of all his influences. His inspirations are explored with pure elegance be they jazz, post-rock or electro by Sufjan Stevens, Steve Reich or Keith Jarrett. Better still, instead of covering mainstream songs like he used to (from Britney Spears to Radiohead), he's made his own songs with or without vocals, words or choruses. Perhaps we have the Arles Photography Festival (2015) to thank for that along with his encounter with Matthieu Chedid (singer on Saisons Contradictoires), friendship with the bassist from The Dø Bastien Burger (co-producer on the album) and his discovery of the young French electro-pop producer Dream Koala (guest on Solaire). Yaron Herman is definitely back. Recorded on 2017, July 4th at the Jazz Festival in Vienne TV Director, Fabien Raymond
