A melodic impressionist and a for ever inspired improvisor, the Tunisian musician has above all toppled the barriers which separate genres. Thanks to him, Arab music and jazz have started a very singular dialogue which approaches the sublime.A conversation between the past and the present, tradition and modernity. Anour Rahem has built up this pacified 'no man's land 'principally on Manfred Eicher's Munich record label ECM to become one of the label's most faithful artists. In the great Pierre Boulez Hall, in the company of the bass player Dave Holland, drummer Jack DeJohnette and the pianist Django Bates, he produces a blend of absolute beauty and of universal value. Mc Coy Tyner trio 'Echoes with a Friend' McCoy Tyner, piano Geri Allen, piano Craig Taborn, piano Gerald Cannon, doublebass Francisco Mela, drums Compositions by McCoy Tyner: Hope Celestial Chant Peresina You thaught my heart to sing Fly with the mind Blues on the corner One of the great stylists in the history of jazz, McCoy Tyner developed his own musical language alongside John Coltrane. His exuberant, percussive and powerful style has influenced many generations of pianists: at the age of seventy-seven, McCoy Tyner still tours America but rarely crosses the Atlantic. For this unmissable concert in Paris, he is joined by two exceptional pianists, his nineteen-year-old daughter Geri Allen, already known as a leader (with Paul Motian and Charlie Haden) and as a sideman in Steve Coleman's Five Elements, and Craig Taborn who, at forty-seven, has become one of the most thought-provoking and progressive members of the New York avant-garde. Éric Legnini Trio Éric Legnini Trio Eric Legnini (piano) Rocky Gresset (guitar) Thomas Bramerie (double bass) A foot-stomping jazz, touched by soul and by funk. Eric Legnini's recording tryptich, begun in 2006 with Miss Soul (then Big Boogaloo and Trippin'), marking the magnificent first steps of a leader for a pianist with a hyper-sophisticated bop language as early as the middle of the 1990's alongside the saxophonist Stefano Di Battista. Since then, the Belgian musician, settled in Paris has led an eclectic career, multiplied collaborations with vocalists (his friend Huge Coltman amngst others) and regularly puts on his producer's hat. In this 2019 season, Eric Legnini is coming back to the trio, but this time without drums : he will be accompanied by the guitarist Rocky Gresset (a reference on the Gypsy jazz scene) and by Thomas Bramerie (long-time touring partner and very probably the most sought after Parisian bass player) with whom he will present a completely new repertoire. Danilo Perez, john Patitucci, Brian Blade Trio 'Children of the light' Danilo Pérez, piano John Patitucci, double bass Brian Blade, drums What a trio! These musicians have been the heart of the Wayne Shorter Quartet's formidable rhythm section for the past fifteen years: Danilo Pérez on piano, John Patitucci on bass, Brian Blade on drums. Each is of course a true master in his own right. And their reunion is an amazing gift to jazz lovers. The stylistic unity and level of communication never fail to impress. The three musicians know each other perfectly, as is apparent throughout the album, with a unique sense of narration. Pérez has rarely played so well, while Patitucci and Blade constantly experiment and innovate. Some of their compositions/improvisations can be very dense melodically and harmonically, but they also enjoy the beauty of a simple melody. A treat!
