Christian McBride's New Jawn Christian McBride,leader/bass Nasheet Waits, drums Marcus Strickland, sax tenor Josh Evans, trumpet Powered by a relentless energy and a boundless love of swing, Christian McBride's path has described a continuous positive arc since his arrival on the scene. With a career now blazing into its third decade, the Philadelphia native has become one of the most requested, most recorded, and most respected figures in the music world today. His latest grouping, Christian McBride's New Jawn, is a killer unit, tight, soulful, in the pocket and in the groove. By the way, Jawn is Philly slang to describe just about everything and anything, but most importantly to understand why McBride named his new band so, it is probably this: 'Jawn' is one Philly thing New York can't lay claim to'. Erik Truffaz Quartet feat. Rokia Traoré Erik Truffaz, trumpet Rokia Traoré, song Benoît Corboz, claviers Marcello Giuliani, bass Arthur Hnatek, drum kit Is it still necessary to present him? A Slender figure, straight hair with a white beard, Erik Truffaz has marked the history of European jazz with at least two albums: The Dawn and Bending New Corners. Hip-hop, jungle rhythms and a timbre similar to that of Miles Davis: a cocktail that you just can't get enough of. The Swiss trumpet player, who has often taken an interest in non-western music, is making a comeback today - after a series of more pop style records with various singers including Sophie Hunger - this time with a new recording which is looking towards Africa: Doni Doni. Clearly in love with women's voices, he has invited Malian singer Rokia Traoré into the studio, who will of course be there for this stylistically very open-minded evening. Recorded on Sptember, 2016 at the Festival Jazz à la Villette TV Director, Giuseppe De Vecchi

Sylvain Luc 5tet Sylvain Luc, guitar Keyvan Chemirani, percussion Bijan Chemirani, percussion Stéphane Belmondo, trumpet Lionel Suarez, accordion Sylvain Luc is without a doubt one of the most brilliant guitarists of the current generation. His insatiable curiosity for the most diverse musical worlds makes his encounter with the Chemirani brothers two astonishing Franco-Iranian percussionists a rare and powerful moment. When he adds Stéphane Belmondo and Lionel Suárez to the trio both of whom are on the look out for dreams and encounters, this atypical grouping of variable geometry becomes a real invitation to travel! João Bosco, lead, guitar/vocals Ricardo Silveira, guitar Guto Wirtti, bass Kiko Freitas, drums João Bosco has been loved in his home country of Brazil for decades, since the 60s when he first began composing and performing. In the early 90s, Bosco mounted a major tour of the US, and since then he has become increasingly popular internationally, regularly performing at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival. Despite his growing popularity outside of his homeland, Bosco remains thoroughly attached to Brazil to the point of never leaving it for extended periods; his music, though rooted in Brazil's classic samba and bossa nova traditions, combines rock and roll, jazz and other ethnic styles in an eclectic brew that is as inventive and challenging as he is. In 2017 Bosco received a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Latin Recording Academy at the 18th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. His new album, Mano Que Zuera, was released at the end of the year. Frank Lacy Sextet Frank Lacy is one of the great talents of the generation that hit New York in the late 70's.
