We Love Ella The Amazing Keystone Big Band Bastien Ballaz, Aloïs Benoit, Loïc Bacheveillier, Sylvain Thomas (trombones) Jon Boutellier, Pierre Desassis, Kenny Jeanney, Eric Prost, Ghyslain Regard (saxophones) David Enhco, Thierry Sénéau, Vincent Labarre, Félicien Bouchot (trumpets) Fred Nardin (piano), François Thibaut (Guitar) Patrick Maradan (Double Bass) Romain Sarron (Drums) Guests Célia Kaméni (vocal) China Moses (vocal) Sarah McKenzie (vocal, piano) The Amazing Keystone Big Band loves Ella and pays more than a simple vibrant homage to she who loved big bands so much (she sang with those of Chick Weeb, Duke Ellington and Count Basie)and identified with the same vein as the one of the same name that the PBS Radio had ???? with Jon Faddis, James Moody, Lizz Wright, Patti Austin. The guest singer, Célia Kaméni, does not attempt either to compete with or to imitate, that would be impossible anyway, the first lady of song gets to grips with her world in order to sing it better. And it works perfectly, and it has to be said that the orchestra is absolutely irreproachable with its waves of intensity, its stresses, an expressive clarity which gives it a very lare range of expression. It's all there, the phrasing, the accents, the rhythm, the groove, the drive this swing, this je ne sais quoi between individual liberty and collective happiness, put simply...Jazz! Lady Quartet Rhoda Scott (organ), Airelle Besson (trumpet), Lisa Cat-Berro (saxophone alto), Géraldine Laurent (saxophone alto) Sophie Alour (Saxophone tenor) Julie Saury (drums) Special guest Bernard Purdie (drums) Since 2004, the organist Rhoda Scott has been at the helm (sparked by an idea from Jazz à Vienne) of the torrid and well-named Lady Quartet, in the company of her Amazons Lisa Cat-Berro, Julie Saury and Sophie Alour. As euphoric and punchy as her young companions in the heat of the action, Rhoda Scott is one of the few still to use the pedals on her Hammond organ. Hence her nickname, 'the barefoot organist' (or 'the absolute toe' in the words of Luigi Trussardi!). After helping to raise the temperature in French jazz venues for the past 50 years, Lady Scott will be celebrating her eightieth birthday this year. She'll be blowing out the boogie candles and setting the gospel cake and soulful chorus on fire. The organist is the daughter of a travelling pastor from New Jersey and grew up in religious communities. She graduated with a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music and set off for France to complete her studies with Nadia Boulanger. Back in New York, she began by playing with Count Basie. But then she decided to try her luck in Paris, where she arrived right in the month of May 1968. Featuring original compositions and covers ranging from Trenet to Wayne Shorter, 'We Free Queens' (2017), with the title proudly adapted from 'We Free Kings' by Roland Kirk, was recorded live. For Vienne a Lady All-Stars is billed, with Airelle Besson (trumpet), Géraldine Laurent (tenor saxophone) and Anne Pacéo (drums), plus the drummer Bernard Purdie. Recorded on July 3, 2018 at the Festival Jazz à Vienne TV Director, Fabien Raymond

Guillaume Perret Guillaume Perret, saxophone, machines The saxophonist from Annecy (born in 1980) racked up the pressure on the contemporary jazz scene (from 2009) with his group The Electric Epic. Three years later and John Zorn himself described it as 'a whirlwind of emotion' and released the extravert, panoramic and electric fusion on his Tzadik record label. It was an explosion of sound with funky beats and quirky harmonies blending metal, electro, Africa, psychedelia and the hot wind of free style. After two incredible albums with Electric Epic, Guillaume Perret is going it alone with his new album Free (2016). Perret's sense of solitude is comparable to Deleuze's opening to Mille Plateaux: 'Since there were many of all of us, there were already too many people.' You can spot the almost symphonic ramped-up saxophone and the deafening rhythmic loops that make Guillaume Perret multiple, all-encompassing and so spectacular. Recorded on 2017, July 13th at the Jazz Festival in Vienne TV Director, Nicolas Micha

Chucho Valdés Quartet Chucho Valdés, piano Yelsy Heredia, bass Georvis Pico Milian, drums Pedro Pablo Rodríguez, percussion Chucho Valdés is a Cuban pianist, composer and arranger, a six-time Grammy Award winner and a three-time Latin Grammy Award winner, and one of the most influential Afro-Cuban musicians in history. His father, the famous Cuban pianist and bandleader Ramon 'Bebo' Valdés, was his first teacher. At the age of 3, little Chucho was already playing melodies he heard on the radio by ear with both hands in all kinds of tones. Chucho played in the famous Cuban band Irakere (1973-2005). He was also the band's founder, composer and arranger. Irakere combined traditional Afro-Cuban music, jazz, rock and classical music. Tribute to Irakere: Live at Marciac, dedicated to Irakere's 40th anniversary, won a Grammy Award as the best Latin jazz album of 2016. Chucho plays on tour and also gives music lessons. He recorded a duet with his father, Bebo, 'Juntos Para Siempre' (Grammy Award winner), and an album called Chucho's Steps, where he presented his new band, Afro-Cuban Messengers. Herbie Hancock believes Chucho is one of the most important figures in the world of Latin and piano jazz. Recorded on 2017, June 25th at the Leopolis Jazz Fest, Ukraine TV Director, Amos Rozenberg
