Youn Sun Nah, Festival International de Jazz de Montréal youn Sun Nah, voice Jamie Saft, piano and keyboards Clifton Hyde, guitar TBC and acoustic bass Dan Rieser, drums YSN was born and raised in Seoul in a family captivated by the voice; her father is a choir conductor and her mother is a musical actress. The year after that, she's invited by the Korean Symphony Orchestra to sing gospels. She makes her first steps on record and on stage. Following that experience, she's noticed and hired in musicals. Her appearances are rewarded and new opportunities lead her to make choices: a career is opening to her but she's not convinced to be on the right track. She finally decides to go back to school to study music and singing. Francophile, amateur of chanson, she settles down in Paris during the fall 1995. She registers at the National Institute of Music in Beauvais, at the Conservatory of Nadia and Lili Boulanger and at the CIM, school of jazz and current music. It is in that school that the epiphany happens. During 6 full seasons, her voice and her personality have impacted and touched the hearts all over the globe. About 500 concerts between 2009 and 2015, most of them sold-out, 3 albums and 2 of them gold records in France and Germany (Same girl & Lento, ACT). Throughout this time she has received many distinctions from her peers (Académie du Jazz in France, Echo Jazz in Germany, Korean Music Award in Korea) and appeared at the 2014 Winter Olympics' closing ceremony. In May 2017, YSN release a new album: She Moves On. She'll be on tour during the whole season of 2017-2018. Recorded on 2017, June 28th at the Monument National, Montreal International Jazz Festival TV Director, Mathieu Mastin

Naïssam Jalal Live at Banlieues Bleues 2017 Naïssam Jalal feat. Hamid Drake, Quest of invisible F. Naïssam Jalal, compositions, flute, nay Leonardo Montant, piano Claude Tchamitchian, bass Harmid Drake, battery, drums The flautist continues her search for meaning with a dream quartet to approach the mystical and spiritual side of jazz. From her early days, Naissam Jalal has been oscillating between the West, symbolized by the traverso she studied at the Conservatory, and the East, represented by the ney, which she studied with great masters in Damascus and Cairo. In residence at the Dynamo, she sets a new objective: to integrate improvised modal jazz with non-western traditions, like the Arab dhikr, the Indian raga, and Gnawa trance. A specialist of the genre, drummer and percussionist Hamid Drake immediately recognized in her the ability he himself acquired alongside Don Cherry and Pharoah Sanders. He is now part of the adventure. Recorded on 2017, March 28th at the Dynamo of Banlieues Bleues, Pantin, as part of the 'Banlieues Bleues' Festival TV Director, Gilles Le Mao

Kamasi Washington Kamasi Washington, saxophone tenor Rickey Washington, Flute / Saxophone soprano Ryan Porter, trombone Brandon Coleman, keyboard Robert Miller, drums Miles Mosley, double bass Tony Austin, drums Patrice Quinn, voice Kamasi Washigton's apprenticeship is incredible: Lauryn Hill, Raphael Saadiq, Snoop Dog, Kendrick Lamar. So it is not surprising to discover that his triple album 'The Epic' was released in 2015 on the electro and rap and instrumental label Brainfeeder. Respectful to his elders (Dolphy, Coleman, Mingus...) but free of musical clans, the powerful Californian saxophonist, a real phenomenon, assures his singularity on stage. Mixing audiences and generations around a music with an electrifying groove, he takes in all of the heritage of the Great Black Music.
