Jaime Woods at the International Jazz Festival of Montréal 2016 Like many before her, Jaime Woods' career began in a church. Learning and sharpening her work on the Gospel scene, in Chicago, she moved in the East Coast for a brief schooling at Berklee College. The opportunity there to explore different types of music pushed her towards New York, and in particular Brooklyn. Jaime has since been into strong collaborations with Bilal, Casey Benjamin, Gadget, Cloche Jennah, Jose James, Emily King, Nick Hakim, Roy Hargrove, Kendra Foster, Gary Bartz, Lalah Hathaway, Haitus Kaiyote... Leaning on her soul voice, upon a precise and delicate instrumentation, Jaime is undoubtedly a stand-out artist who shows, despite her 25 years, a great maturity and true sensitivity. Recorded on June 29th at the Théâtre Maisonneuve, Montréal TV direction by Mathieu Mastin

Proud of its French past, its heart beats to the rhythm of jazz - the city even gave its name to a specific style of jazz. Director Samuel Petit follows Rusty Lazer, a DJ and producer of 'bounce music' - a local style of hip hop -, members of the legendary Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Trombone Shorty, a musician who has become a symbol of the city's new musical tradition. They tell of the scars of a community deeply wounded by hurricane Katrina and of the way its individual members try to overcome the trauma. Recorded on 2013

After soul sister Macy Gray, with whom he recorded an album, the ever-inventive saxophonist brings us a brand new body of work inspired by the slam poetry of Saul Williams. DAVID MURRAY tenor saxophone, bass clarinett, ORIN EVANS piano, JARIBU SHAHID bass, NASHEET WAITS drums, SAUL WILLIAMS voice He appears with the Infinity Quartet, named after his early years at the Infinity loft-studio in New York, and with Saul Williams himself. A great choice: over the past fifteen years, the star of the independent film 'Slam' has been standing out among rappers and slam poets with the quality of his writing and the intensity of his performances. His punch lines make him a unique performer - a remarkable poet with a powerful rap-soul voice. In David Murray, who previously worked with writers Amiri Baraka and Ishmael Reed, Williams has found an ideal partner. A match made in heaven.
