New Orleans, Street Jazz & Dirty Rap Documentary by Samuel Petit New Orleans is like no other city in the United States. Director Samuel Petit follows Rusty Lazer, a DJ and producer of 'bounce music' - a local style of hip hop -, members of the legendary Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Trombone Shorty, a musician who has become a symbol of the city's new musical tradition. They tell of the scars of a community deeply wounded by hurricane Katrina and of the way its individual members try to overcome the trauma. Recorded on 2013

Pura Fé's music is a happy mix of Blues, traditional Indian music and Folk Song. Her moving voice conveys an ancestral message from the Native American world and tells how history unites southern Native and African-Americans. Mathis Haugs's contemporary folk-blues brings to mind Ben Harper and Moriarty. But comparisons are irrelevant, as Mathis has developed his own musical world. This project draws its inspiration from the comic album 'Rouge Camargue' by Jean Vilaine and Michel Faure. Pura Fé Cresioni (vocals) Eric Longsworth (cello) Mathis Haug (guitar) Stephane Notari (percussions)

Sebastian Rochford - drums Mark Lockheart - saxophone Pete Wareham - tenor saxophone Tom Herbert - double bass John Leafcutter - laptop, controllers This quintet, led by Sebastian Rochford, occupies a leading position on the London scene. Nominated in 2003 and 2004 for the BBC 'Rising Star' Jazz Award, in 2005 Polar Bear were nominated for the Mercury Prize. Following their excellent album 'Peepers' (2010), the band took a long break, returning to make it onto the Mercury Prize shortlist in 2014 with 'In Each and Every One'. The tracks on this CD are musical slow food, finely spiced and prepared: minimalism and electronics meet funk, free jazz and complex dance rhythms. Their new CD 'Same as You' was actually conceived of as a single piece, finally resulting in six tracks in which the ensemble develop their sound experiments.
