Zakir Hussain (tabla) Chris Potter (saxophone) Dave Holland (double bass) The Indian composer and percussionist Zakir Hussain is THE tabla player of his generation. The tabla is a percussion instrument from the north of India which does indeed give rhythm to the musician's compositions as much when he is performing solo as here when he is accompanied by the bass player Dave Holland or the tenor saxophonist Chris Potter. Considered as a national treasure in India, this artist accrues performances with no less than 150 concerts per year and a career which began at 12 years of age! Perhaps the most impressive virtuoso of the tenor saxophone according to Michel Contat of Télérama, Chris Potter comes from the generation of saxophonists who came to the fore during the course of the 1990's alongside Joshua Redman, James Carter, Chris Cheek and Seamus Blake. Very quickly, this native of Chicago attracted attention because of his succulent tenor sound and a very personal manner of constructing his solos, imposing himself as a reference amongst his peers. Dave Holland's class! This majestic double bass with a round sound. A self-taught double bass player whose atypical manner of playing and magnificent sound were quickly noticed by a certain Miles Davis. A great composer as well. A great leader too.Together with Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Stan Getz or heading up his own groups, the Brit could never be happy with the minimum. Recorded at Jazz in Marciac Festival (Circus top), on July 28, 2018 TV Director, Jean-Marc Birraux

R+R=Now Robert Glasper (keyboards), Terrace Martin (saxophone), Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah (trumpet), Derrick Hodge (bass), Justin Tyson (drums), Taylor McFerrin (keyboard, vocals) The saxophonist Terrace Martin, the multi-instrumentalist and producer from Los Angeles, who can be heard in some of the biggest hits of Kendrick Lamar and YG or backing Snoop Dogg, Billy Higgins and Herbie Hancock, has just completed a busy year. Along with the release of 'Sounds of Crenshaw Vol.1', an album by his group The Pollyseeds (with, among others, Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper and Problem), as well as his contribution to the famous 'Loyalty' by the duo K. Lamar/Rihanna, he has produced the latest album by YG and toured with Herbie Hancock, whose current work he is also producing. To round off the year, he whipped up the crowds last year with Robert Glasper and a real Who's Who in contemporary US jazz (see line-up) in the supergroup concept named R+R=Now. The pianist Robert Glasper announced and described the project to Billboard: 'we all come from the same concrete garden and we make fluid, honest and open music ranging from jazz, hip hop and EDM to reggae!' Extended Hanoi Duo Nguyên Lê, electric and accoustic guitar Ngo Hong Quang, traditional instruments, voice Mieko Miyazaki, koto Paolo Fresu, trumpet Edouard Prabhu, tabals Alex Tran, percussions Hao Nhiem Pham, flute The celebrated French-Vietnamese guitarist Nguyên Lê is a masterful, inventive player who has cultivated a wholly unique voice on the instrument, ranking right up there with Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Mike Stern and Allan Holdsworth in the post-Hendrix world of jazz guitar. He has developed a distinctive sound that draws upon rock, funk and jazz as well as traditional Algerian, Indian and Vietnamese styles. His ethereal and colourful music acts like a powerful detonator which every time creates new and unheard soundscapes. On his latest album he teams up with young traditionalist singer Ngo Hong Quang, on lute, Vietnamese fiddle, Jew's harp, to portray 'the soul of Vietnam' and its quickening evolution. There are jaunty folkish tunes, temple bells and ethereal melodies, and a storm of electric guitars. Nguyên's life-long friend, the famous Italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu adds elegant Miles Davis-like peaks to a powerful, fauvism-coloured fusion of ancient and modern. Recorded on May 25th 2017 at Like a Jazz Machine Festival, Dudelange, Luxembourg TV Director, Samuel Thiebaut
