MEYER and WRITING GROUND Two choreographies by Alonzo King Lines Ballet MEYER Original music by Edgar Meyer Lights by Axel Morgenthaler Costumes by Robert Rosenwasser WRITING GROUND Sacred music from the Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Tibetan traditions Lights by Axel Morgenthaler Costumes and sets by Robert Rosenwasser Alonzo King founded the Alonzo King Lines Ballet in 1982. 31 years later, it has become one of the world's most prestigious companies. Alonzo King is a great admirer of classical ballet, in which he sees a wonderful science of movement. To this virtuoso technique, he brings a physical, muscular sensuality, an almost feline fluidity refined to the point of pure esthetic pleasure. Meyer, his last creation, was premiered on the 30th anniversary of the company. Written in collaboration with American composer and bass player Edgar Meyer, the music brings purpose and rhythm to bodies and movement. Writing Ground draws its inspiration from the words of writer Colum McCann. In this piece, Alonzo King explores the wealth of traditional music from the Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Tibetan traditions. His choreography becomes a language, at once poetic and electrifying. Recorded at the Maison de la Danse in Lyon, 29 November 2013 Directed by Denis Caïozzi

Mc Coy Tyner trio 'Echoes with a Friend' McCoy Tyner, piano Geri Allen, piano Craig Taborn, piano Gerald Cannon, doublebass Francisco Mela, drums Compositions by McCoy Tyner: Hope Celestial Chant Peresina You thaught my heart to sing Fly with the mind Blues on the corner One of the great stylists in the history of jazz, McCoy Tyner developed his own musical language alongside John Coltrane. His exuberant, percussive and powerful style has influenced many generations of pianists: at the age of seventy-seven, McCoy Tyner still tours America but rarely crosses the Atlantic. For this unmissable concert in Paris, he is joined by two exceptional pianists, his nineteen-year-old daughter Geri Allen, already known as a leader (with Paul Motian and Charlie Haden) and as a sideman in Steve Coleman's Five Elements, and Craig Taborn who, at forty-seven, has become one of the most thought-provoking and progressive members of the New York avant-garde. Recorded on September 19th 2016 at the Philharmonie de Paris TV Director, Samuel Thibaut

Sylvain Luc 5tet Sylvain Luc, guitar Keyvan Chemirani, percussion Bijan Chemirani, percussion Stéphane Belmondo, trumpet Lionel Suarez, accordion Sylvain Luc is without a doubt one of the most brilliant guitarists of the current generation. His insatiable curiosity for the most diverse musical worlds makes his encounter with the Chemirani brothers two astonishing Franco-Iranian percussionists a rare and powerful moment. When he adds Stéphane Belmondo and Lionel Suárez to the trio both of whom are on the look out for dreams and encounters, this atypical grouping of variable geometry becomes a real invitation to travel!
