A fitting and powerful tribute to him comes from saxophonist Emile Parisien and partner in crime Vincent Peirani on the accordion. The two Frenchmen have brought their fellow Austrian 'groove' explorers on board: Paco Sery and Linley Marthe, respectively drummer and bassist in the Zawinul Syndicate (his last group) and West Indian percussionist Mino Cinelu who performed on the last albums for the game-changing Weather Report. The idea behind the File Under Zawinul project came from saxophonist Emile Parisien's time with the Syndicate, a band formed in tribute to the Viennese pianist. Parisien met the vibrant guitarist Manu Codjia and sound architect Tony Paeleman on his Fender Rhodes at the Syndicate who are both to join File Under Zawinul. The Moroccan singer and percussionist Aziz Samahoui who performed with Joe for over 10 years will also be part of the international all-star Zawinul line-up. Con Brio Ziek McCarter, vocal Brendan Liu, trumpet Marcus Stephens, saxopone Benjamin Andrews, guitar Patrick Glynn, keyboard Jonathan Kirchner, bass Andrew Laubacher, percussion Seven musicians formed Con Brio in 2003 with the same passion for the Bay Area's signature funk and psychedelic soul. San Francisco is where Sly and The Family Stone, Tower Of Power, The Headhunters and Darondo flourished. Con Brio produced their first EP, Kiss The Sun, in 2015 and are already famous on the West Coast for their electric concerts and Ziek McCarter's velvety vocals. After touring the US and Europe alongside veterans Galactic and Fishbone, the Californians headed to the studio to put their buzzing live energy on record in 2016.
