Emile Parisien et Vincent Peirani File under Zawinul Emile Parisien, Saxophone soprano Vincent Peirani, Accordion Manu Codjia, Guitar Paco Séry,Drums Linley Marthe, Bass Mino Cinelu, Percussion Aziz Samahoui, Vocal, percussion Tony Paeleman, Fender Rhodes 2017 is the 10th anniversary of Joe Zawinul's death, the high priest of jazz keyboardists. A fitting and powerful tribute to him comes from saxophonist Emile Parisien and partner in crime Vincent Peirani on the accordion. The two Frenchmen have brought their fellow Austrian 'groove' explorers on board: Paco Sery and Linley Marthe, respectively drummer and bassist in the Zawinul Syndicate (his last group) and West Indian percussionist Mino Cinelu who performed on the last albums for the game-changing Weather Report. The idea behind the File Under Zawinul project came from saxophonist Emile Parisien's time with the Syndicate, a band formed in tribute to the Viennese pianist. Parisien met the vibrant guitarist Manu Codjia and sound architect Tony Paeleman on his Fender Rhodes at the Syndicate who are both to join File Under Zawinul. The Moroccan singer and percussionist Aziz Samahoui who performed with Joe for over 10 years will also be part of the international all-star Zawinul line-up. Con Brio Ziek McCarter, vocal Brendan Liu, trumpet Marcus Stephens, saxopone Benjamin Andrews, guitar Patrick Glynn, keyboard Jonathan Kirchner, bass Andrew Laubacher, percussion Seven musicians formed Con Brio in 2003 with the same passion for the Bay Area's signature funk and psychedelic soul. San Francisco is where Sly and The Family Stone, Tower Of Power, The Headhunters and Darondo flourished. Con Brio produced their first EP, Kiss The Sun, in 2015 and are already famous on the West Coast for their electric concerts and Ziek McCarter's velvety vocals. After touring the US and Europe alongside veterans Galactic and Fishbone, the Californians headed to the studio to put their buzzing live energy on record in 2016. The result is called Paradise, an album in which 'We tried to create a narrative arc in the same way as we link tracks when we play live,' says McCarter. Con Brio has set the stages at the top US festivals Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Summerfest on fire. A good omen. Recorded on 2017, July 13th at the Jazz Festival in Vienne TV Director, Nicolas Micha

There are rare types of music which, like perfume or spice, can make your head spin and sweep you off your feet at first listen. Toumani Diabaté's music is of this breed. The notes from his kora literally pierce you. In an instant, you are plunged straight into Africa - Mali to be precise - into the heart of a village where even the urban hubbub can't drown out the music ushering inhabitants into a long night of celebration. The Banlieues Bleues Festival offers us a chance to discover this major artist during a concert.

SOUND PRINTS Joe Lovano, saxophones; Dave Douglas, trumpet; Lawrence Fields, piano; Linda Oh, double bass; Joey Baron, drums. Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas are two one-of-a-kind world-class saxophonist and trumpeter. They both possess very strong personalities that produce vital and elegant music marked by virtuoso pieces that nonetheless sound very new and expressive, while at the same time displaying strong ties to the whole jazz tradition. This outstanding duo will pay an enthusiastic and fascinating tribute to Wayne Shorter, great composer and undisputed genius of the saxophone. Lovano and Douglas will bring to the stage some of Shorter's compositions that they have exclusively arranged for this project, as well as original songs. The result is a musical wonder, in which sounds from the past meet both the present and the future. The extravagant quality of their jazz will surprise you for its complexity, sophistication, but also for its emotional drive. Auditorium Parco della Musica - Rome
