Yaron Herman trio Yaron Herman, Piano, KIeyboard Bastien Burger, Bass, Vocal, Keyboard Ziv Ravitz, drums, electronics Everyday, his duo with Ziv Ravitz in 2015 and first album for Blue Note, the first disc with songs, felt like a comeback for Yaron Herman. The French-Israeli's latest album, 'Y', is a real melting pot of all his influences. His inspirations are explored with pure elegance be they jazz, post-rock or electro by Sufjan Stevens, Steve Reich or Keith Jarrett. Better still, instead of covering mainstream songs like he used to (from Britney Spears to Radiohead), he's made his own songs with or without vocals, words or choruses. Perhaps we have the Arles Photography Festival (2015) to thank for that along with his encounter with Matthieu Chedid (singer on Saisons Contradictoires), friendship with the bassist from The Dø Bastien Burger (co-producer on the album) and his discovery of the young French electro-pop producer Dream Koala (guest on Solaire). Yaron Herman is definitely back. Recorded on 2017, July 4th at the Jazz Festival in Vienne TV Director, Fabien Raymond

Emile Parisien et Vincent Peirani File under Zawinul Emile Parisien, Saxophone soprano Vincent Peirani, Accordion Manu Codjia, Guitar Paco Séry,Drums Linley Marthe, Bass Mino Cinelu, Percussion Aziz Samahoui, Vocal, percussion Tony Paeleman, Fender Rhodes 2017 is the 10th anniversary of Joe Zawinul's death, the high priest of jazz keyboardists. A fitting and powerful tribute to him comes from saxophonist Emile Parisien and partner in crime Vincent Peirani on the accordion. The two Frenchmen have brought their fellow Austrian 'groove' explorers on board: Paco Sery and Linley Marthe, respectively drummer and bassist in the Zawinul Syndicate (his last group) and West Indian percussionist Mino Cinelu who performed on the last albums for the game-changing Weather Report. The idea behind the File Under Zawinul project came from saxophonist Emile Parisien's time with the Syndicate, a band formed in tribute to the Viennese pianist. Parisien met the vibrant guitarist Manu Codjia and sound architect Tony Paeleman on his Fender Rhodes at the Syndicate who are both to join File Under Zawinul. The Moroccan singer and percussionist Aziz Samahoui who performed with Joe for over 10 years will also be part of the international all-star Zawinul line-up. FABRIZIO BOSSO QUARTET & PAOLO SILVESTRI ENSEMBLE 'SWINGING DUKE' Fabrizio Bosso, trumpet, flugelhorn; Julian Oliver Mazzariello, piano; Luca Alemanno, double bass; Nicola Angelucci, drums; Claudio Corvini, trumpet; Fernando Brusco, trumpet; Mario Corvini, trombone; Gianni Oddi, alto sax; Michele Polga, tenor sax; Marco Guidolotti, baritone sax. Conducting and arrangements Paolo Sivestri. The ingredients of this tribute to Duke Ellington are extraordinary. Fabrizio Bosso is a great Italian trumpeter, an authentic and worldwide established jazz star: he has already participated in live and studio projects that have gained acclaim and recognition for his huge expressive talent and his impressive technical qualities. Bosso presents a quartet which stars three exceptional musicians sided by the big band, conducted by the eclectic Paolo Silvestri (pianist and film music composer), who has rearranged and revisited Duke Ellington's repertoire especially for this event. The outcome of this mixture is a unique concert, in which quartet and big band with contrasting sounds mingle in unique harmonies where jazz disclose a harmonic world: the immortal hits of a musical genius reverberate in an unexpected and engaging way. There are rare types of music which, like perfume or spice, can make your head spin and sweep you off your feet at first listen. Toumani Diabaté's music is of this breed. The notes from his kora literally pierce you. In an instant, you are plunged straight into Africa - Mali to be precise - into the heart of a village where even the urban hubbub can't drown out the music ushering inhabitants into a long night of celebration. The Banlieues Bleues Festival offers us a chance to discover this major artist during a concert.
