In 1991 he founded a quartet which today is composed of Benoît Corboz (keyboards), Marcello Giuliani (bass) and Marc Erbetta (drums and percussion),he explores electronic jazz-fusion much in the same way as Miles Davis and recorded several albums starting from 1994. After an incursion into into rock at the head of his Ladybird Quartet created in 2001, he returned to the formula which had made him successful. In his world, always deeply influenced by Miles Davis, the stridencies of rock alternate with the poetic respites, the rousing grooves with more calm ballads. Pura Fé's music is a happy mix of Blues, traditional Indian music and Folk Song. Her moving voice conveys an ancestral message from the Native American world and tells how history unites southern Native and African-Americans. Mathis Haugs's contemporary folk-blues brings to mind Ben Harper and Moriarty. But comparisons are irrelevant, as Mathis has developed his own musical world. This project draws its inspiration from the comic album 'Rouge Camargue' by Jean Vilaine and Michel Faure. The unexpected on all fronts, Hervé Koubi A film by Sonia Paramo Co-authored by Bérengère Alfort and Sonia Paramo. Trained at the Rosella Hightower International Dance Centre in Cannes and then at the Marseilles Opera, he became one of Claude Brumachon's artists at the Centre Chorégraphique national in Nantes, Karine Saporta at the Centre Chorégraphique national in Caen and Thierry Smits for the Compagnie Thor in Brussels. In 2000 he produced his first project'Le Golem', in 2008 he undertook three choreographic trials based on three works: Coppélia, une fiancée aux yeux d'émail...', 'Les Suprêmes' and 'Bref séjour chez les vivants'.In 2010, he started a Mediterranean project interspersed with a number of first performances El Din' (2010-2011), 'Ce que le jour doit à la nuit' (2013), 'Des hommes qui dansent' (2014), 'Les nuits barbares' (2015), 'Les premiers matins du monde' (2016). Hervé Koubi's dance is made up of poetry, nourished with calligraphy, with sculpture, influenced by street dancing such as hip-hop but also the contribution of artists coming from very different horizons. The choreographer's company is a reflection of this cultural blending. We are going to set off on a voyage with Hervé Koubi and his company, who in January 2018 will begin a tour of the United States (including amongst other venues the prestigious Joyce Theater in New York) the French West Indies, and concluding at the Bolchoï Theatre in Moscow. Some of today's best saxophonists return to this repertoire, with new arrangements by Christophe Del Sasso. For the young producer Norman Granz, the signing of Charlie Parker on the Mercury label was a real success story. For several years the saxophonist had been toying with the idea of seizing the opportunity to record music outside his usual quintet. The project 'Charlie Parker with strings' was therefore for him an old dream that he was to bring to reality in 1949. With an oboe, a few violins, a viola, a cello, a harp, a piano, a double bass and drums, he was to give a new sound to the 1930's classics such as 'Just Friends' or 'April in Paris'. These musicians have been the heart of the Wayne Shorter Quartet's formidable rhythm section for the past fifteen years: Danilo Pérez on piano, John Patitucci on bass, Brian Blade on drums. Each is of course a true master in his own right. And their reunion is an amazing gift to jazz lovers. The stylistic unity and level of communication never fail to impress. The three musicians know each other perfectly, as is apparent throughout the album, with a unique sense of narration. Pérez has rarely played so well, while Patitucci and Blade constantly experiment and innovate. Some of their compositions/improvisations can be very dense melodically and harmonically, but they also enjoy the beauty of a simple melody. A treat! Eric Legnini's recording tryptich, begun in 2006 with Miss Soul (then Big Boogaloo and Trippin'), marking the magnificent first steps of a leader for a pianist with a hyper-sophisticated bop language as early as the middle of the 1990's alongside the saxophonist Stefano Di Battista. Since then, the Belgian musician, settled in Paris has led an eclectic career, multiplied collaborations with vocalists (his friend Huge Coltman amngst others) and regularly puts on his producer's hat. In this 2019 season, Eric Legnini is coming back to the trio, but this time without drums : he will be accompanied by the guitarist Rocky Gresset (a reference on the Gypsy jazz scene) and by Thomas Bramerie (long-time touring partner and very probably the most sought after Parisian bass player) with whom he will present a completely new repertoire. So he is reaching for a very high goal. And you can bet that the challenge will be met with brio, because the young American is one of the most talented pianists of his generation : protégé of the immense late Billy Taylor, taken on by Christian McBride at 20, recognised by Wynton Marsalis who saw in him one of the grate heirs of the tradition, Christian Sands does actually possess an instrumental language which alludes to the whole history of his instrument, but still succeeds in remaining extremely modern.
