Michel Meis 4tet Michel Meis, drums+ compositions Cédric Hanriot, piano Stephan Goldbach, double bass Alisa Klein, trombone Born in Luxembourg Michel Meis made his first experience with the drums at the early age of 7 at the Conservatory of Luxembourg, Luxembourg City. After finishing his diploma's in Chamber Music, Classical Percussion and Jazz drums in 2014 with the teachers Guy Frisch, Paul Mootz, Rainer Kind and Al Ginter, Michel entered the Jazz section of the 'Hochschule für Musik Saar' doing his Bachelor in Jazz drums. Since 2011, Michel is also a member of the Luxembourg Military Band and has played in several Jazz-clubs and festivals like the Hong Kong Jazz Festival, Beishan Jazz Festival, Sibiu Jazz Festival, Fête de la Musique Liege and the Brussels Jazz Marathon. Michel is a drummer with ' Everwaiting Serenade ', Dock in Absolute, Juan Gonzalez Trio. He also played drums for The Grund Club Voices and the Grund Club Quartet in 2015 and 2016. Their first record 'Lost in translation' will feature 7 original tunes and a cover of 'Heaven' by Depeche Mode. This album will be relased on January 2019 , on Double Moon Records. What is this thing called love ( 5 saxo) 'Bird with Strings' (1949) by Charlie Parker is a unique encounter between the world of jazz and classical music. Some of today's best saxophonists return to this repertoire, with new arrangements by Christophe Del Sasso. For the young producer Norman Granz, the signing of Charlie Parker on the Mercury label was a real success story. For several years the saxophonist had been toying with the idea of seizing the opportunity to record music outside his usual quintet. The project 'Charlie Parker with strings' was therefore for him an old dream that he was to bring to reality in 1949. With an oboe, a few violins, a viola, a cello, a harp, a piano, a double bass and drums, he was to give a new sound to the 1930's classics such as 'Just Friends' or 'April in Paris'. Jazz at the Philharmonie celebrates this superb encounter by bringing together Géraldine Laurent (Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros 2015), Pierrick Pédron (Prix du disque français awarded by the Académie du jazz 2013) and Thomas de Pourquery (Artist of the Year at the Victoires du jazz 2017) on new arrangements by Christophe Dal Sasso. Some of today's best saxophonists return to this repertoire, with new arrangements by Christophe Del Sasso. For the young producer Norman Granz, the signing of Charlie Parker on the Mercury label was a real success story. For several years the saxophonist had been toying with the idea of seizing the opportunity to record music outside his usual quintet. The project 'Charlie Parker with strings' was therefore for him an old dream that he was to bring to reality in 1949. With an oboe, a few violins, a viola, a cello, a harp, a piano, a double bass and drums, he was to give a new sound to the 1930's classics such as 'Just Friends' or 'April in Paris'. Jazz at the Philharmonie celebrates this superb encounter by bringing together Géraldine Laurent (Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros 2015), Pierrick Pédron (Prix du disque français awarded by the Académie du jazz 2013) and Thomas de Pourquery (Artist of the Year at the Victoires du jazz 2017) on new arrangements by Christophe Dal Sasso. For its first performance (1864) Rossini arranged the work with only two pianos and harmonium. Partly for fear that it would be done anyway after his death, Rossini discreetly orchestrated the Petite Messe Solennelle during 1866-67, without losing its candor and subtlety. On a parlé de free jazz, mais ' ce n'est pas un autre jazz, c'est une musique autre, créative '. Depuis ses débuts (dans l'ONJ de Daniel Yvinec), Antonin Tri Hoang n'est pas sans évoquer Ornette : même lyrisme tarabiscoté, même goût du dérapage contrôlé. Au lieu d'une dissertation sur l'œuvre, il a proposé des rêves, des ponts évocateurs, ' pas un revival, mais un survival '. Avec, aux manettes, le quartette Novembre et des invités qui maîtrisent à la perfection l'art du zapping et du collage.
