The bizarre society was founded in the 19th century in Great Britain and it still believes that pictures taken from space are false. The eponymous 1998 Big Band from Belgium, however, plays anything but flat music. The claim to fame came for this jazz orchestra, founded by artist and clarinettist Peter Vermeersch in 2004, as he and pianist Uri Caine went on tour. In 2006 they released their first CD, 'Psychoscout', followed by their second CD, 'Clear Me, Perverts!' in 2009. A rebel and anti-conformist ensemble with a lot to offer, from faithful adherence to music rules to intoxicating improvisation.

From her early days, Naissam Jalal has been oscillating between the West, symbolized by the traverso she studied at the Conservatory, and the East, represented by the ney, which she studied with great masters in Damascus and Cairo. In residence at the Dynamo, she sets a new objective: to integrate improvised modal jazz with non-western traditions, like the Arab dhikr, the Indian raga, and Gnawa trance. A specialist of the genre, drummer and percussionist Hamid Drake immediately recognized in her the ability he himself acquired alongside Don Cherry and Pharoah Sanders. Nominated in 2003 and 2004 for the BBC 'Rising Star' Jazz Award, in 2005 Polar Bear were nominated for the Mercury Prize. Following their excellent album 'Peepers' (2010), the band took a long break, returning to make it onto the Mercury Prize shortlist in 2014 with 'In Each and Every One'. The tracks on this CD are musical slow food, finely spiced and prepared: minimalism and electronics meet funk, free jazz and complex dance rhythms. Their new CD 'Same as You' was actually conceived of as a single piece, finally resulting in six tracks in which the ensemble develop their sound experiments.

Born in Toronto (Canada), he learnt piano and guitar at a young age. He studies at Berklee College of Music. Since 2004, Stevens has established himself in the contemporary jazz scene performing and recording with numerous artists including Christian Scott, Terri Lyne Carrington and Esperanza Spalding.Regarded to be one of 'most exciting up-and-coming jazz guitarists' in his generation, Stevens was placed in the Rising Star Guitar Category of the 63rd Annual DownBeat Critics Poll.. Daymé Arocena @ Worldwide festival 2015 Daymé was part of the Havana Cultura Mix project, which saw Gilles Peterson mentoring selected producers from around the world to make a record in Cuba with local musicians. The Afternoon of a Faun choreography by Thierry Malandain A ballet for one dancer Music by Claude Debussy Arnaud Mahouy, The Faun Premiered by the Ballets Russes on 29 May 1912 and choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky on music by Claude Debussy, with sets and costumes by Léon Bakst, the ballet is adapted from a poem by Stéphane Mallarmé. A faun is lying on a rocky mound as a group of nymphs appears. He watches them and comes closer. Frightened, they all flee, except for one. As he tries to catch her, she escapes and drops a veil on the ground. The faun seizes the veil, takes it back to his mound and lies down on it, as in an act of love. 'In this argument, I am mostly interested in the faun's desire and in the expression of sensuality through dream and fantasy. There are no references to Ancient Greece or to wooded landscapes, and Léon Bakst's mound on which the faun is perched is now a box of Kleenex. The novelty of the original choreography and the 'beastly' erotic gestures by Nijinsky caused a furore when the piece was premiered. In this performance, carnal pleasure is as central as in the original, and my faun is steeped in a world of fantasy and sensuality. The main difference is that he is not a mythical creature, half-man, half-beast, but a lonely young man, overwhelmed with desire and the memory of love.' T. Malandain.
