The unexpected on all fronts, Hervé Koubi Documentary by Bérangère Alfort Trained at the Rosella Hightower International Dance Centre in Cannes and then at the Marseilles Opera, he became one of Claude Brumachon's artists at the Centre Chorégraphique national in Nantes, Karine Saporta at the Centre Chorégraphique national in Caen and Thierry Smits for the Compagnie Thor in Brussels. In 2000 he produced his first project'Le Golem', in 2008 he undertook three choreographic trials based on three works: Coppélia, une fiancée aux yeux d'émail...', 'Les Suprêmes' and 'Bref séjour chez les vivants'.In 2010, he started a Mediterranean project interspersed with a number of first performances El Din' (2010-2011), 'Ce que le jour doit à la nuit' (2013), 'Des hommes qui dansent' (2014), 'Les nuits barbares' (2015), 'Les premiers matins du monde' (2016). Hervé Koubi's dance is made up of poetry, nourished with calligraphy, with sculpture, influenced by street dancing such as hip-hop but also the contribution of artists coming from very different horizons. The choreographer's company is a reflection of this cultural blending. We are going to set off on a voyage with Hervé Koubi and his company, who in January 2018 will begin a tour of the United States (including amongst other venues the prestigious Joyce Theater in New York) the French West Indies, and concluding at the Bolchoï Theatre in Moscow. China Moses China Moses, vocals Luigi Grasso, saxophone, keyboard Joe Armon Jones, piano Neil Charles, bass Marijus Aleksa, drums China Moses is an outstanding American vocalist and the daughter of the famous jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater (the headliner at the fourth Alfa Jazz Fest) and Gilbert Moses. She was born in Los Angeles and later moved to Paris. She released her first single, 'Time' (1996), at the age of 16. Her first albums brought her success and fame in France on the soul and pop scene. In addition to her career as a singer and backing vocalist, she also works as a host at Radio Nova and MTV in France. In 2008, she launched her own production company, MadeInChina Productions. In 2009, she released an album called This One's for Dinah (Blue Note France), a tribute to Dinah Washington. Her next album, Crazy Blues, was named by British newspaper The Times as one of the top 100 albums of 2013. At the end of March 2017, she released her long-awaited new album, Nightintales. China co-hosted and sang at the first UNESCO International Jazz Day in Paris, and she also often performs concerts for US UNESCO. Born and raised in Woodstock, NY, Vicente Archer has been hailed as one of the most sought-out bassists of his generation. At the age of twenty, while still in college in Boston, he was picked up by acclaimed artists Donald Harrison and Eric Reed to tour. Critics have praised his 'controlled fury' and 'microscopically complex beats.' Born in West Covina, California, he studied with drummer Billy Higgins. Reid was a 1998 recipient of NEC's Alan Dawson Scholarship and in 1999 was accepted into the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz at the University of Southern California. Reid has also attended The New School in New York City. He has performed with Greg Osby, Terence Blanchard, Robert Glasper, Cassandra Wilson, Bruce Hornsby, Jacky Terrasson, Ravi Coltrane, Angélique Kidjo, Dianne Reeves, Mark Turner ... and many others. New York City, 1978) is a composer, performer, educator, and scholar who works across a broad spectrum of jazz-based musical idioms. His recent recording, Travail, Transformation & Flow (Pi 2009), was chosen as the #1 Jazz Album of the year by The New York Times. For this evening's performance, Lehman will perform with his critically-acclaimed trio, featuring Matt Brewer (Bass) and Damion Reid (Drum Set). The trio's most recent recording, Dialect Fluorescent (Pi, 2012) was called one of the Top 10 recordings of 2012 by over thirty publications internationally, including Spin, The Denver Post, and the Village Voice

Shorter is one of the most influential musicians of Modern Jazz. Since the 1950s, he was a dominant musical force, known as one of the improvisers and the world's most important composers. He played in virtually all with the greatest of Art Blakey to Miles Davis for jazz fusion group Weather Report, and has published more than 20 albums under his own name. With his quartet, Shorter changes the rules by his egalitarian operation and wins with youthful insolence as one of the most exciting groups of the early twenty-first century.

Lady Quartet Rhoda Scott (organ), Airelle Besson (trumpet), Lisa Cat-Berro (saxophone alto), Géraldine Laurent (saxophone alto) Sophie Alour (Saxophone tenor) Julie Saury (drums) Special guest Bernard Purdie (drums) Since 2004, the organist Rhoda Scott has been at the helm (sparked by an idea from Jazz à Vienne) of the torrid and well-named Lady Quartet, in the company of her Amazons Lisa Cat-Berro, Julie Saury and Sophie Alour. As euphoric and punchy as her young companions in the heat of the action, Rhoda Scott is one of the few still to use the pedals on her Hammond organ. Hence her nickname, 'the barefoot organist' (or 'the absolute toe' in the words of Luigi Trussardi!). After helping to raise the temperature in French jazz venues for the past 50 years, Lady Scott will be celebrating her eightieth birthday this year. She'll be blowing out the boogie candles and setting the gospel cake and soulful chorus on fire. The organist is the daughter of a travelling pastor from New Jersey and grew up in religious communities. She graduated with a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music and set off for France to complete her studies with Nadia Boulanger. Back in New York, she began by playing with Count Basie. But then she decided to try her luck in Paris, where she arrived right in the month of May 1968. Featuring original compositions and covers ranging from Trenet to Wayne Shorter, 'We Free Queens' (2017), with the title proudly adapted from 'We Free Kings' by Roland Kirk, was recorded live. For Vienne a Lady All-Stars is billed, with Airelle Besson (trumpet), Géraldine Laurent (tenor saxophone) and Anne Pacéo (drums), plus the drummer Bernard Purdie. His style is directly & indirectly influenced by B.Powell, O.Peterson, McCoy Tyner, P.Bley, H.Hancock. 'The biggest lesson I received from Gerry Weil in Venezuela, was to keep my mind open to all types of music' (L.Perdomo) He has played with R.Irizarry and Timbalaye, Ray Barretto's sextet, D. Sanchez, J.Patitucci, D.Douglas, B.Lynch, T.Harrell, D.Gilmore and D.Weiss & 'The Cookers'... He has been a long-standing member of Miguel Zenon's quartet & was a member of Ravi Coltrane's quartet for 10 years. Mimi Jones (Miriam Sullivant) is an American bassist, vocalist, composer, bandleader, education & founder of Hot Tone Music (lin 2009) & now filmaker.Born in NY city, she was raised in the Bronx. She attended The harlem School of the Arts, Fiorello H.LaGuardia Hight School and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Manhattan School of Music Conservatory, NY.Her vastwork as a sidewoman includes Gigs with L.Hampton, R.Coltrane, R.Hargrove and L.Perdomo. Golden Striker Trio Ronald L. Carter (bass guitar ) Russel L. Malone (guitar) Donald Vega (piano) A hugely talented double bassist, gifted with a remarkable sense of melody and widely recognised for the finesse and elegance of his playing style, the American Ron Carter is a living legend. A musician of genius, he started out playing with Gil Evans, Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, Eric Dolphy and Bobby Timmons. He then went on to win fame alongside Cannonball Adderley and Thelonious Monk and, of course, from 1963 to 1968, in the famous quintet formed by Miles Davis. Closer to us in time, Ron Carter became a respected musical leader in his own right in the Golden Striker Trio with Russell Malone and Mulgrew Miller ('Golden Striker' album, 2003) and opted, like Ray Brown towards the end of his life, for the legendary trio of piano/guitar/bass, first used by Nat King Cole and Art Tatum. This classical tradition is fully assumed by Miles' former bassist. In concert, the emotion often reaches a climax with one of his favourite songs, the standard 'My Funny Valentine'. A native of Michigan (born in 1937), Ron Carter won a Grammy Award in 1998 for the instrumental 'Call Sheet Blues' from the soundtrack of the film 'Round Midnight'. In 2010, he was made a Commander in the Order of Arts and Letters in France. Last year, his virtuoso association with the accordionist Richard Galliano enjoyed great success in France. A musical sense forged with tungsten, like the strings on his bass, and with all his elegance and freshness intact, the legend is back. The Sound of New York, Vicente Archer 'The Sound of New York' is the exploration of the musical world of a new generation of artists based in New York City. These musicians hail from different countries, with their own stories and diverse experiences, are giving birth to a new musical wave that takes shape influencing worldwide the artistic scene. It's right in New York today that this impulse is stronger than ever: the sounds come from a deep integration of music of the past and today, interacting with other artistic forms. It's a modern concentration of African-American music influences, including classical and contemporary, as well as more mainstream styles such as Jazz, Hip-Hop, R'B, Rock, etc 10 musicians internationally known will lead us into this world walking along the streets of New York. We will see the places where they live and listen to the music they compose to know their artistic essence. Vicente Archer is an american bassist. Born and raised in Woodstock, NY, Vicente Archer has been hailed as one of the most sought-out bassists of his generation. At the age of twenty, while still in college in Boston, he was picked up by acclaimed artists Donald Harrison and Eric Reed to tour. Soon after that he went on to work with artists such as Terence Blanchard, Kenny Garrett, Wynton Marsalis, Stanley Jordan, Stefon Harris and many more.
