Youn Sun Nah, Festival International de Jazz de Montréal youn Sun Nah, voice Jamie Saft, piano and keyboards Clifton Hyde, guitar TBC and acoustic bass Dan Rieser, drums YSN was born and raised in Seoul in a family captivated by the voice; her father is a choir conductor and her mother is a musical actress. The year after that, she's invited by the Korean Symphony Orchestra to sing gospels. She makes her first steps on record and on stage. Following that experience, she's noticed and hired in musicals. Her appearances are rewarded and new opportunities lead her to make choices: a career is opening to her but she's not convinced to be on the right track. She finally decides to go back to school to study music and singing. Francophile, amateur of chanson, she settles down in Paris during the fall 1995. She registers at the National Institute of Music in Beauvais, at the Conservatory of Nadia and Lili Boulanger and at the CIM, school of jazz and current music. It is in that school that the epiphany happens. During 6 full seasons, her voice and her personality have impacted and touched the hearts all over the globe. About 500 concerts between 2009 and 2015, most of them sold-out, 3 albums and 2 of them gold records in France and Germany (Same girl & Lento, ACT). Throughout this time she has received many distinctions from her peers (Académie du Jazz in France, Echo Jazz in Germany, Korean Music Award in Korea) and appeared at the 2014 Winter Olympics' closing ceremony. In May 2017, YSN release a new album: She Moves On. She'll be on tour during the whole season of 2017-2018. Rain Documentaru bu Gerard-Jan Claes, Olivia Rochette and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker On 25 May 2011, the prestigious Ballet de l'Opéra national de Paris presented for the first time a choreography by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, 'Rain'. Film directors Olivia Rochette and Gerard-Jan Claes followed the rehearsals, from the first auditions to the opening night. The documentary focuses on the way De Keersmaeker and the dancers of Rosas transmit the choreographer's style to the classically-trained dancers. The formality of classical ballet gives way to the equally rigorous, mathematical structure of 'Rain', which nevertheless includes an important emotional element. A poetic documentary on experimentation, esthetics and doubt in the formal and sometimes oppressive world of opera.

Gregory Porter at the International Jazz Festival of Montréal 2016 Gregory Porter's musical awakening came upon hearing his mother's Nat King Cole records as a child - Porter would later write a show in homage to the singer. After seeing his dreams of professional football thwarted by a major injury, the California-born artist turned to music. With the help of his mentor, the multi-instrumentalist and composer Kamau Kenyatta, Porter honed his skills in San Diego jazz clubs before landing a role in the musical It Ain't Nothing But the Blues. His resume also includes a collaboration with famed flutist Hubert Laws. A gifted songwriter, he penned most of the jazz and soul-oriented material appearing on his first albums, Water (2010), Be Good (2012) and Liquid Spirit (2013), winner of a Grammy for Best jazz vocal album. A sophisticated musician and gifted melodist on the French scene, Chassol, like an old-style producer, navigates between film soundtracks and original solo albums. In the last few years, for the Tricatel label, the Paris-based musician has developed the concept of 'antivoyage', in which he films and records the sounds and the music of countries he has been visiting. In his live performances he harmonizes and assembles visual and sound elements, creating a unique audiovisual object. Hugh Masekela celebrates Mama Afrika Hugh MASEKELA flugelhorn, vocals / Cameron WARD guitar / Fana ZULU bass / Randal SKIPPERS keyboards / Lee-Roy SAULS drums / Francis Manneh FUSTER percussions With Abdullah Ibrahim, Masekela is one of the pioneering figures of South African jazz. With his music, the trumpeter, flugelhornist, singer and composer has strongly influenced the political emergence of the anti-apartheid movement which he helped bring to international attention, through noted performances such as the one he gave in Monterey alongside Otis Redding and Jimi Hendrix back in 1967, or his appearance on Paul Simon's multi-million selling Graceland album. Fresh from his presence at Barack Obama's second inauguration ball, Masekela will present his latest project at Parc Floral, a celebration of his late wife, South African diva Miriam Makeba.

The Sound of New York, Theo Croker 'The Sound of New York' is the exploration of the musical world of a new generation of artists based in New York City. These musicians hail from different countries, with their own stories and diverse experiences, are giving birth to a new musical wave that takes shape influencing worldwide the artistic scene. It's right in New York today that this impulse is stronger than ever: the sounds come from a deep integration of music of the past and today, interacting with other artistic forms. It's a modern concentration of African-American music influences, including classical and contemporary, as well as more mainstream styles such as Jazz, Hip-Hop, R'B, Rock, etc 10 musicians internationally known will lead us into this world walking along the streets of New York. We will see the places where they live and listen to the music they compose to know their artistic essence. 'I think the only way to preserve any tradition is to simply be knowledgeable of it and put a message or whatever you're doing to move it forward ' (Theo Croker) Theodore Lee Croker is a jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader from Leesburg, Florida. He studies in Oberlin Conservatory (Ohio) with jazz artists Gary Bartz, Robin Eubanks, Billy Hart, Wendell Logan, Marcus Belgrave and Dan Wall. In 2006 he was awardedthe Presser Music Foundation Award and use the grant money to record his frist album 'The fundamentals'. In 2013 Croker returned to the USA after a 7 years stay in Shanghai, China, where he broadned his concept of Jazz to encompass other complementary genres such as salsa, fusion-rock, R&B, hip-hop and blues. Then he signed with DDB records to began production in NY on the album 'Afrophysicist' and in 2016 'Escape Velocity' consolidate his status of improviser. Recorded in 2017 TV director, Gloria Rebecchi
