He hasn’t gone far when he observes a strange white wolf following him. Lloyd leaves some food for the wolf and arrives at a mountain pass. Partway into the pass, however, he runs into more Blizzard Samurai. A harrowing battle ensues and Lloyd is forced to trigger an avalanche that buries the Samurai along with him! Luckily, his newfound wolf companion helps pull Lloyd from the snow. Together, the duo make their way out of the canyon and arrive at the wreckage of the Land Bounty.

Unfortunately, this behavior quickly grows tiresome and the ninja are confronted by Master Wu, who accuses them of not taking their duties seriously. The ninja deny this, and Wu decides to put them to the test with a series of booby-traps and pranks intended to test their reflexes and skills. Among the more dangerous challenges, the ninja must catch a dangerous breed of chicken that grows wild in the hills surrounding the monastery. Put to shame by the chicken, the ninja ultimately realise: Wu is right. They have gone soft. They decide to take on a new quest to get back in ninja-shape.

But at every turn the ninja find themselves thwarted. After several comedic and abortive efforts to prevent crimes, the ninja give up and return dejectedly back to the monastery. On TV, they overhear a Gayle Gossip newscast in which she is interviewing famed archaeologist Clutch Powers, who has just uncovered a booby-trapped pyramid deep in the Desert of Doom. The ninja seize on this as their quest!

The beetle disables their new Land Bounty and the ninja are forced to take shelter on a small island of rocks where they hope to regroup and repair their vehicles.

In a frightening sequence, Zane allows himself to be swallowed, retrieves the engine component, and is pulled out by the other ninja, who have rigged up Cole’s Dirt Bike like an enormous fishing spool to reel Zane back out…

Alas, when Clutch learns that his membership at the Explorer’s Club is in jeopardy, he musters his courage and strikes out once again for adventure! The group enters the pyramid and makes their way past several deadly booby-traps, only to arrive at the pyramid’s inner-sanctum, where they come upon some ancient hieroglyphics. Realizing too late that the hieroglyphics are a warning, the ninja inadvertently open the final chamber and release a centuries-old Serpentine sorceress Aspheera. She ultimately imprisons the ninja and steals Kai’s elemental fire-power.

He storms off, and runs into some children, from whom he learns of the possible existence of a Traveler’s Tree. Unfortunately, the tree is on the highest, coldest peak, and is supposedly guarded by a fierce beast named Krag. Cole strikes off on his own to try and find the tree and quickly runs into Uthaug and Boma, two Ice Fishers whom he rescues from a near-catastrophic fall. They reiterate the story of Krag and warn Cole to turn back but Cole is adamant. Despite their warnings, he continues and finds an icy ravine crossed by a thin bridge of snow. As he makes his way over the snow-bridge, he hears a frightening roar and finds himself seemingly attacked by Krag! Back in the village, Uthaug and Boma tell Nya, Kai and Jay that Cole is in trouble… just as a frightening bestial roar echoes down the mountain!

This time, Cole wins and Krag is imprisoned. Cole runs for the mouth of the cave… where he stumbles upon an icy cavern full of burial mounds. Realizing that Krag once had a family and that the beast is lonely, and wasn’t trying to attack him but save him, Cole returns and releases Krag. The two become friends. Despite the fact that Krag and Cole does not speak the same language, Cole is able to convey that he is looking for the Traveler’s Tree. Krag carries Cole on his back up a steep cliff and delivers him to the peak where Cole finds the magical Traveler’s Tree! He plucks some leaves and they return to the cavern where Nya and Jay lie in wait. The ninja attack Krag, assuming the creature has imprisoned Cole. Cole intervenes at the last moment and explains the truth: Krag is his friend.

Lloyd manages to defeat the Ice Behemoth by leaving it at the bottom of a frozen lake, but the fight is costly and Red is injured. Lloyd bandages the wolf’s injured paw and tries to keep the animal warm during the night. He awakens the following morning to find a young girl in place of the wolf! Lloyd discovers that “Red†is actually a Formling named Akita, who can transform at will into a wolf.

Unfortunately, their newfound hopes are crushed when they see Boreal fly past in the direction of the village. They return too late to stop a devastating attack. The entire village of Ice Fishers is frozen solid, including Sorla, Uthaug and Boma. Devastated that they were not there to defend the village, the ninja decide to try and locate the wreckage of the Land Bounty and go after Lloyd. Elsewhere, Lloyd and Akita continue their trek across the ice and arrive finally at the Emperor’s Ice Castle. As they are about to approach, they are spotted by Boreal, returning from his attack on the village. The dragon seizes hold of Lloyd’s Mech and a desperate aerial battle ensues.

At the same time, Akita makes her way into the Ice Castle to confront the Ice Emperor. As all three parties converge towards an inevitable confrontation, things take a drastic turn for the worse: Lloyd, Grimfax and Kataru run into an ambush while Nya and the other ninja accidentally awaken the dragon, Boreal. A pitched battle erupts on all fronts. Boreal destroys the Land Bounty but is destroyed by the ninja in the process. Inside the Ice Castle, Grimfax and Kataru hold off Vex’s Blizzard Samurai while Lloyd races on to confront the Ice Emperor.

(Ep. 11) Young Wu and Young Garmadon break one of their father’s rules and sneak into the valley of the Serpentine, where they discover an amazing pyramid and glimpse King Mambo’s army. Unfortunately, they are discovered and arrested. King Mambo himself orders the children imprisoned for the night (to think upon their foolishness). In the middle of the night, however, a young Serpentine girl named Aspheera arrives and offers to free the children on the condition that they reveal the secrets of Spinjitzu to her. The brothers reluctantly agree. While Young Garmadon has no intention of keeping his promise, Young Wu does and returns to teach Aspheera Spinjitzu. Using this knowledge, Aspheera overthrows King Mambo and plans to conquer all of NINJAGO.

Pixal reveals that the monastery is not without defenses and activates a weapons system that momentarily slows down Aspheera’s army. While they are engaged in a siege, Lloyd, Nya and Zane rush to the hospital in search of Clutch Powers, whom they hope will be able to reveal the location of the second Scroll of Fiorbidden Spinjitzu. Clutch, in typical fashion, refuses to accompany them but reveals the scroll’s location: at the Explorer’s Club. As Lloyd, Nya and Zane race off to find it, Kai blames Wu for his loss of powers.

But with no success. Finally, having no choice, the ninja decide to break in. Unfortunately, the Explorer’s Club isn’t quite as easy a target as they might have hoped. Security guards quickly pursue them and what might have seemed an easy mission is quickly complicated when the ninja accidentally unleash various evil artifacts and dangerous insects that have been donated to the club by other explorers. In the end, the ninja succeed in obtaining the scroll, leaving the club in chaos.

Aspheera finally bursts open the hangar doors! The ninja hide in a crawlspace below the floor. Unfortunately, Jay’s sneeze gives up their hiding place, and Aspheera discovers them. She is about to blast Wu with her Scroll weapon, when Pixal comes to the rescue in the finished mech. A heroic last-minute battle ensues, in which the ninja defend their master. Lloyd, Zane and Nya arrive in the nick of time, and manage finally to defeat Aspheera, who is encased in ice.

Wu refuses to risk anyone else’s life and refuses their help. So the ninja defy their master and steal the Traveler’s Tea from his room and sneak off in the middle of the night to go after Zane.

He hasn’t gone far when he observes a strange white wolf following him. Lloyd leaves some food for the wolf and arrives at a mountain pass. Partway into the pass, however, he runs into more Blizzard Samurai. A harrowing battle ensues and Lloyd is forced to trigger an avalanche that buries the Samurai along with him! Luckily, his newfound wolf companion helps pull Lloyd from the snow. Together, the duo make their way out of the canyon and arrive at the wreckage of the Land Bounty.
