He storms off, and runs into some children, from whom he learns of the possible existence of a Traveler’s Tree. Unfortunately, the tree is on the highest, coldest peak, and is supposedly guarded by a fierce beast named Krag. Cole strikes off on his own to try and find the tree and quickly runs into Uthaug and Boma, two Ice Fishers whom he rescues from a near-catastrophic fall. They reiterate the story of Krag and warn Cole to turn back but Cole is adamant. Despite their warnings, he continues and finds an icy ravine crossed by a thin bridge of snow. As he makes his way over the snow-bridge, he hears a frightening roar and finds himself seemingly attacked by Krag! Back in the village, Uthaug and Boma tell Nya, Kai and Jay that Cole is in trouble… just as a frightening bestial roar echoes down the mountain!

Realizing that Krag once had a family and that the beast is lonely, and wasn’t trying to attack him but save him, Cole returns and releases Krag. The two become friends. Despite the fact that Krag and Cole does not speak the same language, Cole is able to convey that he is looking for the Traveler’s Tree. Krag carries Cole on his back up a steep cliff and delivers him to the peak where Cole finds the magical Traveler’s Tree! He plucks some leaves and they return to the cavern where Nya and Jay lie in wait. The ninja attack Krag, assuming the creature has imprisoned Cole. Cole intervenes at the last moment and explains the truth: Krag is his friend.

It has an underworld where beings of evil like Lord Garmadon and the Skullkins dwell together with sacred places where many things are hidden or forgotten (like the Serpentine tombs or the Golden Weapons). The main characters are in tune with certain elemental properties (the elements in this case being Fire Ice Lightning Earth and Creation.) While featuring several historically designed buildings and traditional clothing NinjaGo is a modern setting incorporating large metropolises with skyscrapers current-age (and futuristic) vehicles modern electronics and semi-robotic exo-suits among other temporal displacements.
