Keziah Jones Keziah Jones, vocal, guitar Joel Grant, bass Joshua McKenzie, percussion Keziah Jones was born into a wealthy family in 1968 in Lagos, Nigeria. He was sent to school in England at the age of 8 and he taught himself to play the piano and guitar in London. He gradually created a stunning rhythmic blend of smooth funk, Hendrix-style psychedelia, pure Ikeja reggae and Yoruba harmonies. He called it BluFunk. Keziah Jones hung out English pubs in central London before heading to Paris where he was spotted in the underground in 1991. The album Blufunk Is a Fact and the track Rhythm is Love were international hits. After venturing through the desert of the mid-90s, he struck gold in 2003 with his fourth album Black Orpheus then the unstoppable Nigerian Wood (2008). Keziah completed an ambitious double album in 2013 flitting between Los Angeles, Spain and his kingdoms in London and Lagos. The dandy fighter is well and truly back to win over his audience. Donny McCaslin Donny McCaslin, saphoxone according to the album 'Beyond Now' Donny McCaslin is a tenor sax player. Influenced by his father, pianist and vibraphonist, he starts playing saxophone at the age of 12. After stopping by Berklee College of Music of Boston, he joins a quintet of a teacher from his school, Gary Burton, with whom he will tour for a few years. He moves to New York in 1991 and joins the band Steps Ahead. He will play with several more important music ensembles such as the Ken Schaphorst's big band or the Maria Schneider Ahead. In 2005, he joins trumpeter Dave Douglas'quintet. In 2010, he explores for the first time electric, funk, R&B and soul music. Moreover, David Bowie chose Mc Caslin's band to support his very last album Blackstar. In the past years, he was three times nominated for Grammys Awards. The piano and percussion maestro (he started out as a drummer) studied music for a long time in Havana. Meeting the saxophonist Javier Zalba from the band Irakere inspired Fonseca to explore alternative music such as Keith Jarrett or Herbie Hancock and traditional beats. He began blending vibrant Cuban rhythms with Santeria's African roots, classical music and jazz ('Yo', 2012). Roberto Fonseca is now seen as an icon of Latin jazz and a potential heir to Chucho Valdes. After a poignant duet with the Mali singer Fatoumata Diawara (2014), the pianist is back with Eliades Ochoa, one of the latest figures in the Buena Vista Social Club and the best-known Cuban vocalist on the scene. He's also joined by 25 year old Daymé Arocena, a singer who blends traditional rumba, jazz, soul and Yoruba culture. Jokers Vincent Peirani : accordion, accordina Federico Casagrande : guitar Ziv Ravitz : drums After many collaborations in duo (with Émile Parisien, Michel Portal, Michael Wollny, François Salque) or within his quintet, Living Being, Vincent Peirani wanted to embark on another form of orchestration, that of the trio. With the Italian guitarist Federico Casagrande, who has been living in Paris for many years, and Ziv Ravitz, an Israeli drummer who lives in New York, he forms a hybrid trio, guitar, drums, accordion, in which each musician can take the place of another, to become, by turns, a soloist, a rhythmist, a colourist, and so on. This cosmopolitan formula explores all kinds of music: enigmatic, oneiric, electronic, explosive, colourful, even silent. Everything is permitted and left to the free will of each of the three protagonists. Like the Joker - not so much the fictional super-villain of American comic books as the playing card found in most card decks (the Joker can replace any other card and also be the highest trump) - all three of them have an equal and at the same time complementary role, and they are sometimes in opposition, unpredictable...
