Along with the release of 'Sounds of Crenshaw Vol.1', an album by his group The Pollyseeds (with, among others, Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper and Problem), as well as his contribution to the famous 'Loyalty' by the duo K. Lamar/Rihanna, he has produced the latest album by YG and toured with Herbie Hancock, whose current work he is also producing. To round off the year, he whipped up the crowds last year with Robert Glasper and a real Who's Who in contemporary US jazz (see line-up) in the supergroup concept named R+R=Now. A French gypsy of Andalusian origin, born in Lyon (in 1963), loyal to the Aubagne region where he plays out his passion (and where he runs the Nuits Flamencas festival), the guitarist has won countless prizes and awards and is renowned in Spain and around the world. Carmona spent ten years living in Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia to gain in-depth knowledge of the flamenco culture. Whilst there he performed with singers such as Agujetas and Duquende and recorded with Chano Domínguez, the Cadix pianist, among others. The Frenchman's rich array of sounds, ingenious compositions, pure instrumentals and, most importantly, his talent for improvisation in this harmonic jazz-heavy piece, makes him one of the most respected guitarists in the last 30 years. Alchemya (2013) is still a flamboyant self-portrait of a record blending flamenco with jazz fusion. With his 35 guest cadors, Juan Carmona also gives us a great lesson in the art of hospitality. The borderless musician returned from an Asian tour with Perla de Oriente in 2016 with an album recorded live in the studio. Eric Legnini's recording tryptich, begun in 2006 with Miss Soul (then Big Boogaloo and Trippin'), marking the magnificent first steps of a leader for a pianist with a hyper-sophisticated bop language as early as the middle of the 1990's alongside the saxophonist Stefano Di Battista. Since then, the Belgian musician, settled in Paris has led an eclectic career, multiplied collaborations with vocalists (his friend Huge Coltman amngst others) and regularly puts on his producer's hat. In this 2019 season, Eric Legnini is coming back to the trio, but this time without drums : he will be accompanied by the guitarist Rocky Gresset (a reference on the Gypsy jazz scene) and by Thomas Bramerie (long-time touring partner and very probably the most sought after Parisian bass player) with whom he will present a completely new repertoire. 'I am experiencing a historical moment, incomparable with others in my long, long life,' commented Bernstein. In a typically grandiose yet eloquent gesture, Bernstein spontaneously accepted an invitation to conduct two performances of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony to celebrate this freedom. Two concerts, held in each section of the city that had been divided for 28 years: one in West Berlin's Philharmonie on 23 December, the other in East Berlin on 25 December 1989. It was only fitting that East Germany's new-found freedom should be celebrated with Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. The monumental work, perhaps the world's most famous symphony, was inspired by Schiller's poem 'Ode to Joy,' a passionate paean to freedom. For his two concerts, Bernstein substituted the word 'freedom' (Freiheit) for 'joy' (Freude) to reflect his personal message. 'I'm sure that Beethoven would have given us his blessing,' added Mr. Bernstein. This recording was taped live in East Berlin on Christmas Day 1989. Adding to the symbolism of the event, Bernstein conducted an orchestra and chorus with musicians from the United States, Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union - the four victorious World War II allies who were still responsible for governing Berlin at the time. Joining the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus were musicians from the London Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Paris, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Orchestra of Leningrad's Kirov Theater, as well as chorus members from the East-Berlin Radio Chorus and the Children's Chorus of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. Equally international were the illustrious vocalists in the movement's 'Ode to Joy,' June Anderson, Sarah Walker, Klaus König and Jan-Hendrik Rootering.

Juan Carmona Septet Juan Carmona (guitar, composition) Piculabe (Voice) Noemie Humanes (Voice), Gest dancer, Paco Carmona (guitar), Domingo Patricio (flute), Kike Terron (percussions), El Bachi (bass) Juan Carmona is one of a kind in modern flamenco. A French gypsy of Andalusian origin, born in Lyon (in 1963), loyal to the Aubagne region where he plays out his passion (and where he runs the Nuits Flamencas festival), the guitarist has won countless prizes and awards and is renowned in Spain and around the world. Carmona spent ten years living in Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia to gain in-depth knowledge of the flamenco culture. Whilst there he performed with singers such as Agujetas and Duquende and recorded with Chano Domínguez, the Cadix pianist, among others. The Frenchman's rich array of sounds, ingenious compositions, pure instrumentals and, most importantly, his talent for improvisation in this harmonic jazz-heavy piece, makes him one of the most respected guitarists in the last 30 years. Alchemya (2013) is still a flamboyant self-portrait of a record blending flamenco with jazz fusion. With his 35 guest cadors, Juan Carmona also gives us a great lesson in the art of hospitality. The borderless musician returned from an Asian tour with Perla de Oriente in 2016 with an album recorded live in the studio. Along with the release of 'Sounds of Crenshaw Vol.1', an album by his group The Pollyseeds (with, among others, Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper and Problem), as well as his contribution to the famous 'Loyalty' by the duo K. Lamar/Rihanna, he has produced the latest album by YG and toured with Herbie Hancock, whose current work he is also producing. To round off the year, he whipped up the crowds last year with Robert Glasper and a real Who's Who in contemporary US jazz (see line-up) in the supergroup concept named R+R=Now.
